Why this card might (or might not) be right for you.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is THE top beginner card I recommend for miles & points. The travel protections it provides are top tier, too! Get this card early in your travel points journey — it's a keeper. It's the first card in my Three Year Plan.
The points you'll earn are easy to redeem and it's also easy to keep earning them.
Note that this card had a "refresh" in June 2026. It added some nice perks but also reduced the transfer ratio to Hyatt to 4:3. That means if this is the only Chase card you have, it's not ideal for transferring to Hyatt anymore since you'll have a reduced rate.
