Chase DoorDash Benefit (How to Maximize)

Categories: Credit Card BenefitsBy Last Updated: October 23, 2026

DoorDash and Chase offer some nice benefits on a lot of Chase cards. The benefits are the most generous on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve® where you will get benefits through December 31, 2029. There are also benefits on most Chase Co-Branded cards as well. It’s an easy benefit to use and get quick value from.

Update October 2026:

The $5 credit on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® that is good for restaurant orders has increased to $15, and it can now be used for anything, restaurants or non-restaurant orders.

Co-branded cards now give monthly credits instead of quarterly if activated after September 1, 2026.

Update September 2026:

The DoorDash promotion has been extended through 2029 for Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.

What is DoorDash?

DoorDash started off as a meal delivery service but has now expanded to include grocery stores, convenience stores, liquor stores, and even a wide variety of retail stores.

If you order an item to be delivered, it may be subject to order minimums. You may also incur service fees, and you will be expected to tip your driver.

If you order an item for pickup (not available at many locations), you’ll be able to circumvent most of the fees.

What is DashPass?

DashPass is a subscription service that offers unlimited deliveries from thousands of eligible restaurants with $0 delivery fee on orders over $12. It also works with certain retail and grocery stores for reduced delivery fees.

DashPass normally costs $9.99 per month with the monthly plan or $96 per year with the Annual Plan.

What benefits do Chase Card Members get at Door Dash?

Chase credit card members have slightly different benefits depending on their credit card. These benefits are good through December 31, 2029. You can read all the terms here. I won’t go through all the cards here.

The most generous benefits are on the Chase Sapphire cards, and those are the ones we will cover in detail.

The information in this chart was accurate when we collected it. Details change often, so always verify directly at the source before you rely on it.

Is this even worth it?

I’m going to be straight with you: DoorDash upcharges on items (usually about 10%) and also adds a 5% service fee.

Sometimes there is a delivery fee and if you get items delivered, you’ll pay a tip.

So if you use your $10 credits for a $100 order with no other coupons — you’re going to end up overpaying. This is probably what DoorDash wants!

I think the sweet spot for this benefit is small orders, of about $10, that save you a trip to the store. You aren’t saving the full $10, in fact sometimes I am probably only saving $3-4 after the service fee and tip. But I often save 30-45 minute of my time!

Some common places I use my monthly credits:

  • Walgreens
  • Dollar Tree (you can even order mylar balloons and send them to someone)
  • Five Below
  • Michaels
  • Grocery stores

It’s also a good deal when you can stack a DashPass coupon — these pop up in the app fairly regularly.

See the bottom of the article for other tips on how to maximize your savings (of time or money).

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card Benefits

You get 2 benefits: DashPass and a $10 credit every month.

You can get a free DashPass membership through December 31, 2029 — or for a minimum of one year. If you activate your benefit today, you’ll have it through December 31, 2029. If you wait to activate it till December 30, 2029 (but don’t do that! You’ll miss out on freebies) — you’ll have it for one year from that time.

You also get a monthly $10 promo for non-restaurants while you’re enrolled in DashPass. DashPass is free for you through the end of 2029 so that’s a lot of credits!

This is our favorite card for beginners, and I already think the benefits far outweigh the annual fee — and now with this, you get as much as $120 a year for DoorDash!

Chase Sapphire Reserve® Benefits

Like with a Sapphire Preferred, you can get a free DashPass membership through December 31, 2029 — or for a minimum of one year.

You get TWO monthly $10 promos for non-restaurants while enrolled in DashPass. You also get a $15 monthly credit that can be used for anything (including restaurants).

Sapphire Reserve for BusinessSM Benefits

Free DashPass membership through December 31, 2027 — or for a minimum of one year.

You get TWO monthly $10 promos for non-restaurants while enrolled in DashPass. You also get a $5 monthly credit for restaurants.

Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card Benefits

Free DashPass membership through December 31, 2027 — or for a minimum of one year.

You get one monthly $10 promo for non-restaurants while enrolled in DashPass.

Chase Freedom and Slate Benefits

Free DashPass for 6 months if activated by 12/31/29

Important! After those 6 months, you’ll be auto-enrolled into a full-price membership at the then-current monthly rate (currently $9.99/month).

You’ll get one quarterly $10 promo applicable to eligible non-restaurant orders, while enrolled in DashPass and using the eligible Chase card at checkout.

Chase Co-Brand Benefits

Chase co-branded cards include cards that earn with Southwest, United, Hyatt, and more! These cards are also eligible for DoorDash benefits.
This includes:

  • Hyatt cards
  • United cards
  • Southwest cards
  • Avios cards (British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus)
  • Disney cards
  • Marriott cards
  • IHG cards
  • Aeroplan® Card

A few aren’t eligible, like the Amazon Rewards Visa Card, Instacart Mastercard, and DoorDash Rewards Mastercard.

With co-branded cards, you can get free DashPass for 12 months after activation, as long as you activate by 12/31/27.

Important! After those 12 months, you’ll be auto-enrolled into a full-price membership at the then-current monthly rate (currently $9.99/month).

While you’re enrolled in DashPass and using your eligible Chase card at checkout, you’ll also get a $10 promo on eligible non-restaurant orders:

  • If you first activated DashPass between 9/1/26 and 12/31/27, you’ll get one $10 promo each month.
  • If you first activated DashPass between 2/1/25 and 8/31/26, you’ll get one $10 promo each quarter.

What if I have multiple cards?

You’ll need to create a separate DoorDash account for each card to activate these benefits.

You can’t stack the benefits from multiple cards on the same account.

You will need a separate email for each account. If you have gmail, you can use the + trick — this routes emails to your normal inbox but makes it look like a different email from the perspective of DoorDash.

If my email was katie@gmail.com, I could also enter into DoorDash katie+doordash@gmail.com and it would still route to katie@gmail.com

Then you’ll be able to toggle between DoorDash accounts from your phone.

Steps to Follow to Use the $10 Monthly Promo

Here are the basic steps to follow to activate and redeem your benefits.

1) Sign up for a DoorDash account

If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to create a new account. You’ll need to verify your phone number as part of the process. You can use the same phone number for multiple accounts.

You will need a unique email. See above for the “+” trick to route emails to your same account.

2) Add your Chase card as a payment method

Whatever card you want to use the benefit on is the one you should add.

3) Activate your Chase Dash Pass

Once you add your Chase card, you should see a banner asking if you want to activate Chase DashPass benefits. You do!

4) Search for “Pickup” options if you want to save on fees – or “Delivery” to save on time

From the home screen on the app, you can select the “Pickup” button to filter for Pickup locations.

Some places might only show when they are open, so if you search very early in the morning or very late at night, your options may appear to be more limited.

Very few places offer pickup and some have instituted a $20 minimum for pickup orders. See below for suggestions on how to get around that.

If you want to save on time — getting delivery might make sense for you. You’ll still pay a tip and may be subject to order minimums, but after the $10 off, you can still get items delivered for the same price as you would have paid in store, or sometimes even a little bit less.

5) Ignore restaurants and focus on grocery, convenience stores, liquor stores, or retail

This $10 benefit doesn’t work for restaurants, so you need to ignore those.

In my area, the only stores that aren’t restaurants that also have pickup are convenience stores and liquor stores. Your area might have more options.

Once I pulled up the map view, I also entered “Grocery” into the search box to filter the options more quickly.

The closest to me are a Speedway (gas station store) and 7/11. There’s also a DashMart which is Door Dash’s own mini grocery store.

6) Add items to your cart

Your monthly promo will be good for up to $10. If you spend less than $10, your total will just be $0! What you choose to buy is up to you. I don’t recommend spending much over $10 unless you find some great deals, otherwise you aren’t saving money.

8) Find the Chase DoorDash Toggle

DoorDash doesn’t want to give you that $10 promo automatically.

From your cart, you’ll need scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click “Continue.” If you have a DoorDash promo, you could add it now.

DoorDash will try to sell you more items — click “Continue” again.

You’ll finally make it to the final check out screen. Now you’ll see a toggle for the “Chase monthly benefit.” Make sure that toggle is turned on so you are activating your benefit. Then click “Next.”

10) Do it again for the next credit till December 31, 2029 (or earlier, depending on your card)

It’s only a $10 credit, but this is an easy way to get 1-2 items from a grocery store, Walgreens, or other retail stores delivered to your house that saves you a trip and a few dollars.

Tips to Maximize Your $10 Promos and DashPass

Use Pick Up instead of Delivery

If you use pick up, you won’t have to pay a driver tip. But this is pretty limited (and many places have $20 pickup order minimums) so I rarely use my credits this way.

$20 Pick Up Order Trick — use Buy 2/Buy 3 Promos

With the $20 pickup minimum, our community has found some tricks! The first is to look for items that have a discount like this — Buy 2 for $4.50. This works only if the items say “Buy 2 for…” or “Buy 3 for…” It won’t work on a discount on one item

Buy 2 for $4.50

When DoorDash calculates the price of items in your cart with this type of promo, it counts the full price. Then the discount comes off further down. So it still thinks you’ve qualified for the $20 minimum order and you can still add your $10 monthly benefit to get close to $0.

$20 Pick Up Trick – Dash Mart

At Dash Mart (if you have one near you), you can add $10 of food items and then add a $10 physical gift card. Then it will see your order as being $20 total and let you select pickup instead of delivery.

This works well if the gift cards match places you’d eat at anyway (like Chik Fil A, Panera, etc — gift cards may vary by your location)

I tested this by adding some ice cream + a gift card

Look for DoorDash Promos

DoorDash has some great promos — things like 50% off groceries or 20-35% off other stores. These vary throughout the year. Most of these are only available to people with DashPass. You usually won’t be able to choose PickUp on these promos, but you’ll still come out ahead on regular shopping, even with paying a tip.

Check for In-Store Rewards and Earn More Credits

Some areas have an extra option to earn “In-Store Rewards”

What exactly is offered on In-Store Rewards varies by day. but currently in my area, I can get DoorDash credits for things like:

  • Making a dining reservation
  • Dining out and paying with a linked card
  • Gas purchases with a linked card

The most important thing is that you “Claim the Offer” before making your purchase.

We try to check on DoorDash before making any dining out or gas purchase and claim the offer! Sometimes we’ll even split a check or takeout order into 2 so we can get the Dining Out credits on multiple cards.

Knowledge/information is power! Just placed my first order for a net $0.94 with slightly higher than $10 items. It’s amazing that neither Chase nor Door Dash openly advertises for this promotion. Thank you so much Katie!

2 player mode not working for me. Made new accounts for myself and my wife, everything separate (name, phone number, email, CSP numbers) and my wife’s works fine but mine gives an error every time. Have tried DD support on twitter and chat with no resolution. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    • Katie Holden August 23, 2024 at 1:42 pm - Reply

I had one other person tell me that and I haven’t seen a solution yet. It’s so odd. Have you tried desktop vs app?

      • John August 23, 2024 at 2:05 pm

Yes both desktop and app, and incognito, etc. Thanks.

      • Katie Holden September 4, 2024 at 10:55 am

Still have not heard a solution, sorry! My only other idea would be using a VPN.

I love trying this out! We have a Casey’s convenience store in our area that allows for pick up. I was going to purchase a gift card of some sort (which I know they sell in store) but they don’t offer any gift cards on the door dash app. I searched in the search bar. Any other suggestions? Thank you!!

    • Katie Holden September 4, 2024 at 10:57 am - Reply

Not all items that are in the store are available with the app. It’s possible as time goes on they will add more.

  8. Tanaya August 27, 2024 at 2:08 pm - Reply

This worked perfectly for me! I followed your steps and decided to stock up on energy drinks for my husband, who usually buys them from the vending machine at work. As a bonus, I also filled up on gas while I was there—one of my least favorite chores—but this deal definitely made it more bearable. Thank you to you and your team for sharing the value of this benefit!

    • Katie Holden September 4, 2024 at 10:57 am - Reply

Perfect use! It can be your once a month energy drink/gas stock up :)

  9. Valorie August 31, 2024 at 9:51 am - Reply

Thanks for the step-by-step instructions! I would have had no idea that our CSPs had this benefit. Thank you so much!

Question for you. My subtotal was $9.98 and I entered the $10 code and it showed $0 due. Then after I placed the order, I got a Chase text showing I was charged 27 cents. I went back into the app and it shows 29 cents for tax. Is this normal? To be charged tax on a $0 balance? Not complaining, just curious for the future.

    • Katie Holden September 4, 2024 at 10:58 am - Reply

Hmmm that seems odd but I don’t know for sure! I’ll have to be checking to see if I’m charged tax.

    • Aimee May 8, 2025 at 12:14 pm - Reply

The tax was on the $9.98. And it “estimates” tax. So it probably estimated 2 cents tax, but once the order was complete, it calculated the actual tax as 31cents, which is why you were charged the 27 cents.

    • Susan June 25, 2025 at 11:00 pm - Reply

It’s probably because your state charges tax on the “pre coupon” price.

      • Katie Holden June 30, 2025 at 10:37 am

Oh this makes sense. I know some people didn’t used to see this and then they did — maybe there was some state legislation that changed how tax is charged with coupons.

    • WILLIAM August 27, 2025 at 12:50 pm - Reply

depaneds on how your STATE handles the coupon issue of the applies $10 credit from doordash. Here ifn Florida, I apply my $10 to the 9.99 order and there is zero due in the end.

  11. Tracy September 30, 2024 at 12:30 pm - Reply

Any suggestions of why the DashPass does not pop up? I just created a DoorDash and entered my CSP as my saved payment method but the Free DashPass option did not pop up.

    • Katie Holden October 9, 2024 at 1:09 pm - Reply

Maybe try from a computer and in the app. And maybe delete and re-install the app?

  12. Sally Payne February 2, 2025 at 4:26 pm - Reply

Can AUs also use this benefit or is it one DD account per card?

    • Katie Holden February 6, 2025 at 7:47 am - Reply

I believe one DD per card since it is the same card number.

  13. Richard February 26, 2025 at 11:32 am - Reply

Hello! I believe there was (is?) once something about the $5 restaurant DoorDash Chase credit rolling over up to $15 if unused (i.e. up to 3 months)? Does this still occur?

  14. Aimee May 8, 2025 at 12:11 pm - Reply

The way you deliver information is so amazing!! If you ever retire from your Points & Miles hobby, would you please teach teachers?!?!

    • Katie Holden May 10, 2025 at 6:29 am - Reply

That’s so nice of you to say! I did always want to be a teacher when I was growing up (lots of educator relatives!) and while I didn’t become a public school teacher have found that essentially that’s what I do now…just for miles and points!

    • Katie Holden August 11, 2025 at 1:51 pm - Reply

Not all stores have pick up. That could be the issue? But I have noticed it does default back to delivery and then I have to go back and change it a 2nd time to pick up sometimes.
