My Take
This card really helps make it so easy to get a Southwest Companion Pass. Just pay close attention to your timing when applying if you’re trying to maximize the Companion Pass. It has some great perks like 4 upgraded boardings per year and a credit every 4 years for TSA Precheck or Global Entry. It also gives you free internet on Southwest flights!
Love this current high point offer — but you will have to do a fair amount of spending to earn the full bonus. It is theoretically possible to use this offer to earn a Companion Pass for 2025-2026 but that timing would be extremely tight and I honestly don’t recommend it for most people.
Instead I think this is a good offer to get and finish all your spending on ASAP. If you do it by December 1, 2024 — you’ll still earn a Companion Pass through December 31, 2025. And then in late 2025 you can strategize how to re-up.
offer History
80,000 points is the standard offer on this card. In the late summer/early fall, the offer has raised to include a higher tier of spending which unlocks additional points. But the timing of the higher offer is usually difficult for earning a Companion Pass.
