Annual Fee Waivers for Active Duty Military
The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and the Military Lending Act (MLA) are laws that protect military service members and their families by restricting the interest and fees credit card companies can charge military families.
In order to comply with these laws, several banks waive annual credit card fees on personal cards for those in the military and their spouses.
While the rules of travel points still apply if you or your spouse are in the military, these annual fee waivers provide a great opportunity to military families to take advantage of credit card benefits — and bonuses — without worrying about the high annual fees of some of the best cards!
We don't keep an up-to-date list of which banks and which cards this applies to, but I encourage you to do some Google searching to see if this applies to you if you're an active duty military member.
