Best Holiday Inn Club Vacation Properties for Families to Book on Points [Map]
Holiday Inn Club Vacation is a collection of 30+ resorts managed by Intercontinental Hotel Group. The Holiday Inn Club resorts are located across the United States and Mexico. While these are officially “vacation owner” resorts for timeshare owners, they also allow you to use IHG hotel points to book stays at many of these properties. These resorts can be great for families because most “standard rooms” at these timeshare properties are actually 1-2 bedroom villas that have a full kitchen and separate living room. Some have other on-site activities as well. Keep reading to find out which properties you can book for a family of 6 (and 2 you can book for 8!)

Free Nights at Holiday Inn Club Vacation Resorts
While you can earn IHG Rewards points by staying at IHG properties, the easiest way to earn a big chunk of them for a family vacation is to open an IHG credit card and earn the sign up bonus. IHG cards are issued by Chase, so make sure you are familiar with the Chase 5/24 rule before applying. These credit cards also have some great benefits!
These same points can be used at other IHG brands like Kimpton, Intercontinental, Staybridge Suites, and Holiday Inn Express.

Earning IHG points is fastest with a credit card bonus! There are three different IHG cards.
How Much Does It Cost To Stay at Holiday Inn Club Vacations?
If you want to pay with points, most of these properties cost about 35,000-40,o00 points per night. This may seem like a lot but when you consider the standard bonus for an IHG credit card is 140,000 points — it’s fairly easy to get some free nights! Even better: holding the IHG credit card will also give you the 4th night free on award bookings, so if you plan to stay for 4 nights, the price per night is even lower.
While most IHG properties have switched to dynamic pricing, these Holiday Inn Vacation Club properties in my searches seem to still price very consistently. Almost all the properties were 35,000-40,000 points per night regardless of the cash price of the hotel. This price range is perfect because it means they still qualify for the annual free night certificate you will earn if you keep the IHG Premier card year after year. The one exception is the property in New Orleans which I noticed dynamic pricing ranging from 41,000 to over 50,000 points per night.

I think these represent a great sweet spot for larger families, especially those which otherwise might need to book 2 hotel rooms. In addition, they have the extra perk of a full kitchen so you can cook some meals in your villa.
In our household, we have an older version of the IHG card which we both keep in order to pair together 2 free night certificates each year for what we consider a pre-paid, discounted vacation. We then opened the IHG Premier and after a year downgraded to the Traveler to keep the 4th night free benefit.
Tips On Finding Availability
The IHG website doesn’t have a search tool that easily lets you search flexible dates to find award availability. Once you have a certain property you are searching for, you can follow these steps to find available dates:
Use a computer (rather than smart phone or IHG app) to search. I enter in the property I want to search as well as a very long date range. This does not have to be the range you actually want to stay. In fact, if you put in popular times, this will actually help. Here is a video walkthrough of how I find availability.
Here is another video showing how to find available dates at properties that have more limited availability. Sometimes it requires a 2 step process.
