Atmos Rewards Overview

Categories: Credit Card BenefitsBy Last Updated: October 11, 2025

The merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines has created a powerful new loyalty program: Atmos Rewards. This single, unified program officially replaces both the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles.

The transition is now complete. Former Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan accounts have already been converted, and as of October 1, 2025, all HawaiianMiles accounts have also become Atmos Rewards accounts.

Any miles and status you had with the previous programs will still be valid in your new Atmos Rewards account.

How to Earn Atmos Rewards Points

Flights

You can earn Atmos points on paid flights with Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, or any of their 30+ partners.

If you want to earn Atmos Rewards Points on a paid partner flight such as American Airlines or Japan Airlines, all you have to do is add your Atmos Rewards loyalty number to the reservation.

Note that you can only earn loyalty points from one program. For example, you wouldn’t earn both American Airlines miles and Atmos Rewards points, but you can choose which type of points you want to earn and attach your loyalty number for that program to your reservation.

For now, Atmos Rewards points earned from flights are based on the distance flown. Starting in September of 2026, you’ll have the option to choose how you want to earn points.

  • Earn based on distance: 1 point per mile flown
  • Earn based on spending: 5 points per dollar spent on flights
  • Earn based on segments flown: A flat rate of 500 points per segment flown

You’ll be able to select which way you want to earn and have the option to change it once a year.

If you hold status with Atmos Rewards, you earn even more points.

Credit Cards

The best way to earn a lot of Atmos Rewards points quickly is to sign up for a new credit card offering a welcome bonus. Atmos Rewards currently has three credit cards to choose from

Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Credit Card

Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® Credit Card

Atmos™ Rewards Visa Signature® Business Card

While the original Hawaiian Airlines credit cards are still available, any miles earned on them will now be deposited as Atmos Rewards points. All existing HawaiianMiles balances were automatically converted to Atmos Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio on October 1, 2025.

Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard®

Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Business Mastercard®

Spend on Credit Cards

Beyond the bonus points you can get for signing up for a new credit card, you also earn points for every dollar spent on Atmos Rewards and Hawaiian Airlines credit cards.

Shopping Portal

Atmos Rewards Shopping is a new shopping portal that replaced Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan shopping. You can earn points for everyday purchases when you click through the shopping portal before visiting your favorite retailers.

Earn with Partners

You can connect your Atmos Rewards account to several partners to earn points when you shop with them.

These include hotel partners like Best Western, Choice hotels, and Marriott Bonvoy. Car rental and rideshare partners like Avis, Budget, and Lyft. Plus many more everyday partners.

Check out the full list of partners and learn how to link accounts at the Atmos Rewards website.

Book Travel

You can earn Atmos points when you book travel through Alaska Vacations.

Transferring Points to Atmos Rewards

The only bank that transfers to Atmos Rewards is Bilt. You can earn Bilt points in several ways–even without the Bilt credit card, but it’s hard to earn a lot of points with Bilt unless you pay rent.

Previously, you could transfer American Express Membership Rewards Points to Hawaiian Airlines and from there to Alaska Airlines, but Amex removed Hawaiian Airlines as a transfer partner on June 30, 2025

Sharing Atmos Rewards Points

If you hold the Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® card, you can transfer points for free to up to 10 other Atmos Rewards Members.

If you don’t hold that card, it costs $10 per 1,000 points to transfer points to someone else.

Atmos Rewards Partner Airlines

When you book a flight with Atmos Rewards points, you can fly with Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Airlines, or a number of their partners.

Atmos Rewards has three levels of partner airlines:

oneworld alliance partners:

As members of the oneworld alliance, you can both earn and redeem Atmos Rewards points on partner airlines like American Airlines, British Airways, and Japan Airlines.

If you hold status with Atmos Rewards, you get status benefits when you fly with oneworld alliance partners.

Earn and redeem partners:

These are airline partners that are not part of the oneworld alliance. You can earn and redeem Atmos rewards points with these airlines, but you don’t get Atmos status benefits when you fly with them.

Earn partners:

You can earn Atmos Rewards points when you fly on one of these airlines, but you can’t redeem Atmos Rewards points to book flights on them. You also don’t get Atmos status benefits.

Using Atmos Rewards Points to Book Flights

One of the best ways to use Atmos points is to book an award flight. Atmos offers excellent pricing with competitive rates to many popular destinations.

This is the chart for flights operated by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. There are separate award charts for partner airlines to several regions of the world.

Atmos offers competitive award rates for many partner award flights. Here are some sweet spots:

  • Fly to Japan on Japan Airlines starting at 60,000 points and around $75 roundtrip
  • US domestic flights start at 4,500 points each way
  • Fly to Dublin on Aer Lingus starting at 45,000 points and around $70 roundtrip

Free Change and Cancellation

Award flights booked with Atmos Rewards points have no change or cancellation fees. If you need to cancel, points will be returned to your account, and any taxes and fees paid will be refunded.

Free Stopovers

When you book a flight with Atmos Rewards points, you can add a stopover for free.

Stopovers are a great way to get more out of your trip without spending a lot more money. You can use them to break up a long journey, or just to see two destinations for the price of one!

This applies to international flights only. Stopovers can be added to one-way OR roundtrip flights.

Other Ways to Use Atmos Rewards Points

In addition to booking award flights, there are several more ways you can use Atmos Rewards points.

Atmos Experiences

You can book experiences like surf lessons, wine tastings, pottery classes, and much more with your points.

Book Hotels, Vacation Rentals, Car Rentals and More

When you book through Alaska Vacations you can pay directly with points. Right now, you have the option to redeem points for hotels, car rentals, vacation rentals, and vacation packages. The option to redeem points for cruises is expected to launch in late 2025.

Transfer to Hotels

Your Atmos points can be converted to hotel points in the following programs:

  • Marriott Bonvoy: 1:1

  • Wyndham Rewards: 1:1

  • IHG One Rewards: 1:1 (until November 2025)
  • Preferred Hotels/I Prefer: 1:2

  • Shangri-La Circle: 8:1

Final Thoughts on Atmos Rewards

The new Atmos Rewards program is a powerful combination of the best features from both Alaska’s Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles. With an extensive network of airline partners, flexible earning options, and valuable redemption opportunities like free stopovers and competitive award charts, it’s a program every traveler should get to know.

While change can be complicated, this merger seems to be a net positive for members, opening up more ways to earn and burn points for incredible travel experiences.
