April 2026: Best Credit Cards to Pay Taxes
If you’ve procrastinated on paying your 2025 taxes, you still have a few options to earn a welcome offer on a new credit card. The key is to find a card that will either give you an instant card number or expedite the card to you quickly.
We’ve researched all the cards on our current Best Offer page so you can see exactly that information for yourself — and sort to find the right card for you.
Note that these offers were accurate at the time of posting but could change. Also note that this chart is filled with data points we sorted but in some cases, some cards may not provide you an instant card number as a fluke.
IMPORTANT
Update April 10: Some recent data points show that Amex seems to be not providing everyone reliably with instant card numbers. Many people get them, some do not. In addition it seems that Amex is only sporadically expediting cards, with the exception of the Business Platinum which seems to arrive very quickly.
Best Practices for Paying Taxes Credit Card
- Make sure to go to IRS.gov to start your payment
- Paying with a business card will incur the highest fee. Recent data points show if you add your business card to Paypal and then choose ACI Payments and pay via Paypal, you will almost always be charged the lower 1.85% fee.
- Remove all other payment methods from Paypal — if your credit card payment is declined, Paypal may default to another method
